Roeland Hendrikx

Roeland Hendrikx

Roeland Hendrikx (Belgium, 1969) is one of our generation’s most outstanding clarinetists. As a chamber musician, soloist at the Belgium National Orchestra and renowned teacher at the conservatories of Antwerp (Belgium) and Maastricht (The Netherlands), he is well respected and appreciated both in his country and far beyond. That becomes clear from the regular invitations he receives to give concerts and master classes in a.o. the USA, Japan, Thailand and Singapore.

A first duo album is the logical result of a close collaboration between Roeland Hendrikx and Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort. On their new album – produced by Et’cetera Records and available on this website in July 2016 – they eternalize master pieces from the rich French repertoire for clarinet, such as the sonatas of Saint-Saëns and Poulenc, Debussy’s atmospheric Première Rapsodie, but also less famous but exquisite works from Chausson, Gaubert and Widor.

During the 2016-2017 season, this album including a series of concerts will be presented to the public.

Both gentlemen also take part in the Roeland Hendrikx Ensemble, a chamber music ensemble that focuses on performances and recordings of the repertoire for clarinet, piano and strings. They recorded their first album in 2015, completely dedicated to Mozart’s chamber music.

This ensemble consists of the following members: Alexei Moshkov and An Simoens (violin), Sander Geerts (viola), Anthony Gröger (cello), Roeland Hendrikx (clarinet) and Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort (piano).
